John Shim, Ph.D.

Vice Chairman at Korea Association of Technology Transfer Management (KAUTM)

John Shim is a vice president and professor of Technology Commercialization Division at Seoul National University of Science and Technology. And also working for KAUTM (Korea Association of Technology Transfer Management) as a vice chairman

John has 26+ years of experiences in technology innovation and entrepreneurship. In recent 8 years, John Shim has been conducting policy research for the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and ICT for technology transfer and technology commercialization of Korean universities, and has lectured on IP, technological innovation and technology start-up at Korea University and Seoul National University of Science and Technology. And he has 18 years of commercial fields and business experiences as a country manager at Vidyo, Logitech Inc., LifeSize Communications (Telecommunication company in US), etc. He is interesting and researching the opportunities to grow/meet/expand IP, startup business and industry thru tactical Go-To-Market strategy & big data based IP analysis with short to long terms goals. Experiences in cross cultural/ cross border ways of working to leverage globe/region and managing/operating country or regional business unit as an APAC leadership committee.

He received a Ph.D., from Korea University and his MBA and BS from Hanyang University in Korea. Finished the innovation and startup coursework programs at Columbia University in NYC and George Washington University in US. He is a certified Korea Valuation Specialist from KVA, Technology Transfer Agent from the ministry of industry and trade, and International Valuation Specialist from ICVS, and Venture Capitalist from KVCA.
